OUTLANDER/DIANA GABALDON -- 08/16/2012

Outlander is the first in a series of books by Diana Gabaldon. I read it when it first came out and have devoured each sequel with the same zeal. I have read and reread them many times and remain enchanted by the story.

It is the story of Claire Randall, a married army nurse, who goes through a rift in a stone circle and ends up 200 years in the past, in 1743. There she meets and has to marry young Jamie Fraser in order to keep her safe from the English. There is much more to the story, but that's a quick synopsis of the beginning.

This was an incredible portrayal of what the film might be like. Like the filmmaker, I feel the best person for the part of Jamie Fraser would be Gerard Butler. This is a very skillful blending of different movies to give a real feeling of what the film of Outlander, the story of Jamie and Claire, would be like. I so wish a film would be made of these books.

The music is apparently "Becoming One With Neytiri" by James Horner.

I have been listening to this series for almost a year now and am currently on "An Echo To The Bone" which is book seven. Eight won't be out till next year. I have so enjoyed this series but do you think a movie could possibly do it justice?
